Bishop Mike Vorster

Bishop Michael Vorster

In today’s world where many people lead very solitary lives it’s perhaps difficult to experience a sense of community and connectedness to others, but for Bishop Michael Vorster, life’s all about people, relationships, and how we can work together to help each other. While religion is often a subject of great controversy, the Church has always played a central role in supporting communities, especially the less fortunate, and particularly during times of strife. For the past 35 years Bishop Vorster has dedicated his life to the Church and the work that it does: reaching out to survivors of political violence; offering training for unemployed youth; working with HIV/Aids survivors –  providing essential care to people that are so often overlooked. It is thanks to people like Bishop Michael Vorster that even in the 21st Century, a time when it’s very much each man for himself, we can still get a glimpse of what it really means to love thy neighbour as thyself.
