Womens Month 2015(620x300 pixels)It’s been nearly 60 years since the historic march to Union Buildings in Pretoria where close to 20 000 women stood in protest against the Apartheid government’s pass laws. Fortunately many things have changed for the better, but the fight for equal rights for women continues today, and Women’s Month helps to highlight this continued need for change. The people of Durban embrace Women’s Day and Women’s Month with a host of activities: everything from Flames & Dames, a fun day of braaiing to raise funds for women’s shelters, to workshops aimed at broadening the horizons of female school leavers. The City of Durban, and its residents, hope to make a real difference in the lives of the women in South Africa. Happy Women’s Month!
