Menzi High School Matric Learners 2015

It’s no secret that our schooling system in South Africa is in need of some serious attention with the matric pass rate sitting at just under 76% for 2015, but not so in the case of Menzi High School which achieved a 100% pass rate for the fourth year running! The school, which is located in the township of Umlazi, is headed up by Felix Mshololo, one of our 2014 eThekwini Living Legends recipients. When Felix first joined Menzi in 1990 the school had a dismal pass rate of 34%. It is now one of the top performing government schools, with 93% of its learners achieving bachelor passes for 2015. Special note must be made of Zenzele Nikwe who received an astounding 100% for mathematics and 99% for physical science – two subjects that schools in South Africa seem to be particularly battling with.

Congratulations to Felix, the dedicated team of teachers at Menzi High School who go above and beyond, and of course all of the learners who worked so hard to achieve these fantastic results!
